Happenings 2021/22 Program Guide
After a years hiatus – the Happenings Program Guide is back for the 2021-22 season! This season we will take it back to the Revolutionary Era in a three day symposium with renowned historians and authors from all over. Then, we will dive to the depths of underwater caves and learn about backpacking in the wilderness in our Great Adventures & Explorations lecture series. The music line-up is star-studded, as we are bringing back the music of a generation with The Kingston Trio, the Four Freshman, and Jon Cleary and the Monster Gentleman. We will experience The Finer Things In Life right here in our neighboring cities as we visit the Punta Gorda Symphony and the Sarasota Opera, as well as enjoy a little wine tasting right here in Boca Grande. Happenings 2019/20 Program Guide
Though the 2019-2020 season was cut short due to the start of the pandemic, we kicked off the season with renowned speakers and entertainment. In our Great Adventures Series, National Geographic Guide, Charles Ryan, transported us across the sea to Borneo, explaining the world’s most biologically diverse ecosystem. We experienced a miraculous world of magic with “Astonishment Artist” Mat LaVore and witnessed the influence and inspiration of Beethoven’s Quartets in our Boca Grande Live! Series.
Happenings 2018/19 Program Guide
What a season! We learned of the beauty and culture of Fogo Island, one of the four corners of the earth, with Zita Cobb as part of the Finer Things In Life series. Our community learned about the traditional culture of China and established its’ global context in our two-day Global Issues Symposium. In our Health & Wellbeing series, we partnered with Bayfront Health to bring free monthly health education workshops, from early heart attack care to Alzheimers Education. Judy Collins graced our stage, presenting her deeply personal memoir, Sweet Judy Blue Eyes: My Life In Music in our Boca Grande Live Series.
