Lieutenant General (Retired) Charles Hooper is one of America’s most distinguished soldier-diplomats, with over 41 years of experience in China and the Indo-Pacific. A fluent chinese linguist with over seven years living and working in China, many consider him one of the Nation’s foremost experts on the Chinese and Taiwan militaries and China’s defense industries. In addition to operational assignments with the 25th Infantry and 82nd Airborne Divisions and teaching Chinese Foreign Policy at the Naval Postgraduate School, Lieutenant General Hooper had three high profile diplomatic assignments including serving as the U.S Defense Attache – the senior U.S. military officer in both China and Egypt.
