The Sarasota Opera – Puccini’s Madama Butterfly
Sunday, February 26 | 12:00am
$425 per person (Half-Day Excursion)
Enjoy an afternoon at the prestigious Sarasota Opera House with one of opera’s most steadfast tales. Italian composer Giacomo Puccini’s poignant score follows a young geisha known affectionately as Madama Butterfly. Swept off her feet by an American Naval Officer, left with a promise that he would return one day, Butterfly waits faithfully for three years, but is met with heartbreak in this enduring tragedy.
Accompanying you on this operatic journey is Maestro Peter Leonard. Born in Boston, Peter has lived and worked in Germany, holding positions as music director and intendant (general director).
Round trip transportation from Boca Grande is included. This trip is limited to 22 people. Call the office at (941) 964-0827 to reserve a spot.
Following the matinee, Maestro Leonard will lead an engaging discussion over dinner in the private dining room at Sarasota’s upscale, contemporary restaurant, Element. Located in the heart of downtown Sarasota, in the Plaza at Five Points and across from the Sarasota Opera House, is the Element restaurant. Encapsulating fine dining, Chef Nils Tarantik takes classic dishes and flavors and imbues them with unique gastronomic twists and flares. The result is a timeless – yet boldly modern – dining experience. Voted Sarasota’s best steakhouse and most romantic restaurant, the knowledgeable staff is committed to exceeding expectations.
