China: Its History, Culture, and Place in the World Today
Thursday February 21 – Friday, February 22
The United States of America is the most powerful nation in the world. As United States citizens we can travel almost anywhere we want, buy whatever we want, say whatever we want, go to church wherever we want, marry whoever we want, and the list goes on and on. So why should we care about China?
This first Global Issues Symposium on China seeks to answer that question. We will establish the global context of China – where is China coming from and what is holding China back. We will also examine current issues: military, political, technology, Belt and Road trade expansion and more.
Meet the Moderator
Kaiser Kuo worked for many years in China as a tech journalist, and served as Director of International Communications for the leading Chinese search engine, Baidu. Kaiser will moderate discussions as needed, making sure that our speakers answer the question, “Why should we care?” He will also weave China’s technological advances into the conversations.
