Julia Sweig New York Times Best-Selling Author
Where no presidential biographer has understood the full impact of Lady Bird Johnson’s work in the White House, Julia Sweig is the first to draw substantially on Lady Bird’s own voice in her White House diaries to place Claudia Alta “Lady Bird” Johnson center stage and to reveal a woman ahead of her time–and an accomplished politician in her own right. Through meticulous research and compelling storytelling, Sweig reveals just how far Lady Bird Johnson’s influence surpassed the traditional duties of a First Lady. Her environmental activism, political acumen, and partnership with President Lyndon B. Johnson was instrumental in shaping our nation’s course during a truly transformative era.
