Pulitzer Prize winning author Jonathan Eig returns to Boca Grande this season to share the story behind his landmark biography King: A Life, winner of the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Biography. The book also received the Barbara and David Zalaznick Book Prize from the New York Historical Society and was named to the National Book Award longlist.
Widely praised as the first major biography of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in decades, King: A Life offers a powerful and deeply human portrait of a man who helped change the course of American history. Eig draws from newly released FBI files, personal letters, and more than 200 original interviews to reveal King’s private struggles, moral courage, and enduring commitment to nonviolence. He explores King’s role as a preacher, strategist, husband, and father, all while under constant government surveillance and pressure from both allies and critics.
